Activities for the Elderly

2nd March 2017
Activities for the Elderly

Exercise and physical activity can help you stay healthy, energetic and independent as you get older.

Aging is not a disease or a condition and it doesn't mean we lose the ability to make our own choices or learn new skills. Moving into a care home is a major life event and we all share the same desire to live in a comfortable and safe environment.

To be emotionally and physically well we need to actively participate in daily life. This is not an added bonus of good care and support but an essential requirement. When a person is left to sit for most of the day with little stimulation or movement a number of damaging physical and psychological changes can occur.

The benefits of regular activity are:

  • Muscle strength & joint mobility increases
  • Appetite increases
  • Sleep pattern and quality improves
  • Concentration and memory improves
  • Feelings of loneliness and isolation are reduced
  • New friendships are formed
  • A stimulating environment is created

... the list could go on and on!

This is why at Wolfeton Manor we always encourage participation in regular activity!

Keep up to date with all of our activities on our Facebook page!

At Wolfeton Manor we provide residential care for the elderly in Dorchester and the surrounding areas.
